Having enjoyed the fellowship of traveling in the van together, the six Prison Christian Ministries Volunteers checked in and proceeded to the beautiful Chapel in this Federal Institution. Little by little, the men made their way from the residences until we had quite a congregation present. We were fortunate to have two chaplains with us this night, men who take their mission very seriously and genuinely care for those of their flock.
The Prison Christian Ministries team was introduced, and Becka led off with a time of Praise and Worship, at times taking requests from the fellows. They always enjoy when Becka arrives as part of the team. Greg gets to fellowship with some old acquaintances, mutually blessing both the resident and the visitor.
Sherry, with thanksgiving to God, shared her testimony. Although she is able to give evidence of what a self-defeating life style can produce to one’s body and spirit; Sherry is also a trophy of God’s Grace and an exhibit of His ability to redeem a life and change a person from the inside, out. Sherry’s compassion for those to whom we minister is very evident, resulting in a dedicated prayer life for these and others.
I (Jim) was asked to bring the teaching for the night, which was from 2 Corinthians 5: 16 to 21. Our aim is to encourage and strengthen the present Christ-followers and to endeavour to reach those whose faith is becoming awakened. It is exhilarating to realize we have become new creations, delegated as Christ’s Ambassadors, motivated by Love with a Ministry and Message of Reconciliation. Since Christ became sin for us and paid the debt; we are declared righteous in the Courts of Heaven. Amazing Grace!
Mike closed the Service, encouraging the men, and giving them an opportunity to receive God’s offer of eternal salvation by turning their lives over to Him. A time of fellowship followed with the cookies and Pepsi. What a privilege we had to chat, as well as pray with some.
Another rewarding trip and opportunity to fulfill our mission as Ambassadors of Jesus Christ.
