The Master is Building His Tapestry

back & front of tapestryThe second group file in, Brent in his wonderful style opens up with the usual greetings and helps the men to settle.  Once again Becka opens in song, different songs than the last meeting.  This meeting is different as the men are different, and so are the needs.  Our heavenly Father begins to do his tapestry like work for this day.  We can’t always see what He is doing but that is only because we are on the backside of the tapestry.  Once we turn the tapestry around we see the finished project, that is when God reveals what he is doing.  He sees the finished tapestry of our lives.  On the back side we see crisscrossing stitches, frayed and flawed ends, but on the other side a clear pattern.  Today we know the Master is building His tapestry, His presence is as surely felt as the tapestry master’s handiwork, leaving more defining stitches on the tapestry of our lives.

We enjoy an increasing level of the Masters presence, more tears and more openness to prayer. God is moving and we are privileged to see Him do His work.  The time goes fast for us and all too fast for our congregation, they must go back, but we will go home.  A stark reality but Praise be to Jesus these men are not going back the way they came.  There has been a soothing and comforting ministry for their weary souls this day.

Here is a poem by Corrie Ten Boom that illustrates the idea of the tapestry.

My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.

I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.
