ABOUT US

We are a Federally Incorporated Canadian Registered Charitable Organization. Our Charity Number is 803492925RR0001. We are governed by a local board made up of Stephen Giovannitti, Pastor Hal Babcock, Brent Bishop, Pastor Albert Hood, Sherry McMillan, Malcolm Thomas, James Lewis, Paul Dixon and Dr Steven Hart.

We are fast growing group of approximately 100, mainly Volunteers and Prayer Partners, from various Christian Denominations.

We have a calling from God, built on a foundation of prayer to minister to inmates, ex-inmates, their families and their victims in Canada and Abroad, by introducing them to the teachings of Jesus Christ, which will lead them to a place of redemption and transformation.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Our statement of Faith begins with the Apostle’s Creed.

The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

We Believe: All have sinned and come short of the glory of God, resulting in separation from a relationship with God. Salvation is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and not by works or human merits; which restores us back to God.

OUR STORY

In 2005 our founder and Regional Director, Rev. Brent Bishop was called to prison ministry. He worked with and was trained by Rev. Monty Lewis (Bridges of Canada) for 8 years. He also received training under Rev. Tony Loeffler (Solid Rock Ministries, West Palm Beach) for 2 years. He has had extensive training through COPE (Coalition of Prison Evangelists) and is now a board member and teaches at their training seminars. As a former Regional Representative of Prison Fellowship Canada, he also received, and gave training of their volunteers.

Brent’s story is written in a book titled “ALL FIRED UP”. It tells of a broken child, full of hate and hurt, who was incarcerated at the age of 12. He then grew into a man full of hate and hurt, until he met Jesus and his life was transformed. Today, because of Jesus, Brent is an ordained Minister and a very successful businessman. He has presented workshops, taught Christian courses, and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ locally and internationally, in prisons, churches, meeting halls, and tents, in Canada, the United States, Jamaica, Africa, and on First Nations Reserves.

IN LOCK UP, PRAYING THROUGH A CRACK IN THE DOOR

We at Prison Christian Ministries understand what causes people to end up in prison, AND we know the answer that can set them free is Jesus Christ. God has placed a passion in us to share the Gospel, so others can find His Peace and Freedom.

OUR GOAL

Many prisoners have a distorted idea of what the gospel means, and have never heard it shared in a way they can understand. Our Goal is to share the gospel of hope, to all who will listen.

We have volunteers trained to teach in a way that anyone can understand, and relate to the Good News of the gospel of Jesus Christ. A person can only change, when their spirit changes. We can’t change a man’s spirit, but, through obedience to the Gospel, we can set the stage for the Holy Spirit to empower and change these lost souls from the inside. We believe through this change, lives are transformed, and our communities and country, become a better, and safer place to live. The Volunteers help this happen by building relationships through caring and compassion, trust and friendship, while they conduct Bibles Studies, Mentoring groups, Pray with and mentor individuals one on one, Chapel Services, Gospel Concerts, and Driving the ex-inmates to church & overcomers groups upon release.
