Many inmates turn to the Bible to find meaning in their circumstances, seek forgiveness, and embrace Christ’s teachings of compassion and empathy. 

For the last 2 years, Prison Christian Ministries has understood that prisons in Kenya are a place of hopelessness and despair. It is hardly a beacon of hope and transformation. Still, for many, it has been a retreat from the harsh realities of the outside world and a place of rehabilitation.

For more than 2 years, Prison Christian Ministries Tabitha 2 Prisoners Bible program has provided the Word of God to prisoners, free of charge. The result has been a quiet yet profound conversion within the walls of correctional facilities. The presence of free Bibles in prisons, the milk supply program to children and Educational support for children with parents in prison have had a remarkable impact on the lives of incarcerated individuals, providing them with newfound hope, guidance, and purpose. These transformed lives serve as a witness to the remarkable power of faith and its potential to break the cycle of criminal life and open pathways to redemption and personal growth.

This boy’s life changed in a single moment. With no parents or close relatives willing or able to care for them, left to face the world on their own.

The days that followed were filled with uncertainty. Often went to bed hungry, worried about where their next meal would come from. School became difficult because they lacked school fees, uniforms, and someone to encourage them. While other children returned home to loving families, some returned to loneliness and silence.

As time passed, I struggled with sadness, fear, and the feeling that had been forgotten. Some people ignored pain.

Their story reflects what many children may experience after losing a parent through death or incarceration. Without care, guidance, and support, they can face poverty, emotional trauma, interrupted education, and social isolation. Their greatest need is not only food and shelter, but also people who will stand beside them, remind them they matter, and help them build a brighter future.

At Prison Christian Ministries, we are serving with compassion and dedication to support vulnerable children and transform their lives. We have now built  5 Tabitha Houses, serving 140 Children, and have 2 more under construction, but we are out of building funds. Brenda was a quiet girl with sad eyes. Her world was shattered the day her mother was taken away — arrested for a terrible crime. In an instant, her small home was filled with silence. People whispered, doors closed, and hearts turned away. Brenda was left alone, abandoned, and afraid.

Days turned into nights of hunger and fear. She had no one to call family, no one to care for her. Sometimes, she would sit by the roadside watching other children go to school, wondering if her life would ever be normal again.

But even in her loneliness, hope was waiting for her.

One afternoon, as Brenda sat under a tree, a kind agent from Tabitha House 4 passed by. Seeing the sadness in her eyes, he stopped and asked gently,

“Little one, what’s your name?”

“Brenda,” she whispered.

When the agent heard her story, his heart broke. He reached out, took her hand, and said,

“You are safe now. You will never suffer alone again.”

Those words marked the beginning of a new chapter.

From that day forward, Brenda’s life began to change. She was taken to Tabitha House 4, where love replaced loneliness, and hope replaced fear. She finally had food to eat, a bed to sleep in, and people who cared for her. For the first time in years, Brenda smiled again.

She began to dream. She went to school, made friends, and discovered that she was capable of great things.

Every evening, she whispered a prayer of gratitude — for the rescue, for the love, and for the second chance she had been given.

Today, Brenda’s story stands as a reminder to us all:

 No matter how dark life seems, hope can still find you.

 Love can still reach you.

 And your story can still be rewritten for good. Because sometimes, all it takes is one act of kindness to change a life forever.

Four years ago, God gave Prison Christian Ministries a vision to build 10 Christian rescue centers for children whose parents were in prison and were being abused and discriminated against, a lot of them dying on the streets. 

The small Ministry had little to no funds, and the vision, when told out loud, sounded impossible, and many believed it was. 

Today, the ground is being broken for Tabitha House number 6, and the fence is being installed to mark the location of Tabitha House number 7.

AWW, but when the impossible becomes possible.

At Tabitha House 3 Christian Rescue Centre in Embu, Kenya, we are currently caring for 38 children—each with a deeply touching story that cannot be ignored. Though the journey has not been easy, we do not regret welcoming this number.

Instead, we see the hand of God in every child, especially as we witness them smile again, rediscover hope, and begin to heal.

By God’s grace, our children have been selected to participate in a documentary project next month, April 2026.

 This is a powerful opportunity to share their stories with the world and showcase their strength, resilience, and potential. We believe this documentary will open doors for their future sustainability and help restore their identity and dignity.

Dear Partners and Friends,

We’re pleased to share that in March 2026, we launched our first PCM Digital Literacy program at Tabitha House 2 for children with parents in prison. This initiative is essential for navigating, evaluating, and creating information in today’s technology-driven world. We are in the process of preparing children with parents in prison for future employability, enabling access to online education, and facilitating secure remote communication with their parents behind bars to create memories and bonding.

Currently, we are facing challenges with only one computer desktop; it’s difficult to serve 24 children under our program. We request help to procure at least 12 computers, which cost $300 per piece.

 Please pray about this. We know God will smile to see His little children getting a chance to have a good life.

As Jesus taught, “When you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous” (Luke 14:13–14). The right kind of religious practice also requires a personal commitment to growing in Christian virtue (see 2 Peter 1:5–8).

Dear PCM Team,

We are thrilled to report your recent visit in Bungoma Kenya Tabitha House 2 has created an impact on the lives of children with parents in prison and those on the streets.

Your visit was marked with spiritual nourishment through prayers of salvation, Bible study, Baptism, feeding, and distribution of clothes and shoes. May God bless you richly. 

We bring to your attention that following prayers of salvation to street children 27 gave their lives to Jesus Christ and 3 three boys have fully joined our church weekly Bible study program among other responsibilities around the compound. There are moments in life that touch your heart so deeply, you can never look at the world the same way again.

This is the story of Sylvenus— a young man found on the streets of Bungoma during PCM on January 25th barefoot, hungry, silent with confusion, but speaking English able to communicate with Brent Bishop. Sylvenus was rescued from the street by an old Samaritan widow who assisted him join school but eventually the widow died before completing high school. The school allowed him to finish but retained all his certificates even after passing exams. 

Sylvenus is still on the street, he is a bright boy with dreams hidden beneath years of hardship. Recently Brent Bishop spotted him and noticed his ability and now we have rescued him from the streets and brought him to the church compound for rehabilitation and we believe this is where his hope will begin to shine again. We have seen this child’s potential.

With joy, we are planning to enroll Sylvenus in a college to study as an Electrician and certificate in Theology because he’s much passionate about serving God.

For two terms, we need to pay Ksh 50,000 per term plus extra costs for meals and accommodation of around 30,000, because every child deserves a chance to dream. But when schools close, we don’t want Sylvenus to ran back to the streets that’s why we request your prayers to help us renovate wooden church houses that will be called their home especially those who are constantly coming to church every Sunday because the streets are not safe that why they are being killed almost every week.

Every time we look into Sylvenus’ eyes, we see both hope and pain. He is a child who needs more than rescue — he needs consistent care, therapy, guidance, structure, and a safe environment for him to succeed.
