Title: “A Project of Prison Christian Ministries”
Today, Tabitha House 1 Prisoners’ Children Rescue Center stands not just to tell a story, but to be the story — the living heartbeat of a place built out of pain, hope, and transformation. It’s the voice of the Prisoners’ Children in Kenya — a place that many call a sanctuary, a home, and a second chance.

The Steps
Step One: Born in Silence
It was born not with bricks and cement, but with a silent cry. The cry of a forgotten child — one whose mother was behind bars, whose father’s name was a whispered secret, whose presence in society was like a shadow in the sun.
It was born out of the tears of a grandmother who couldn’t afford school fees. Out of the pain of a young girl forced out of school because there was no one to take care of her. It was born when concerned individuals asked a bold question: “What happens to the children of prisoners when their parents go to prison in Kenya?”
This concern was shared with The Prison Christian Ministries founder, Brent Bishop, about six years ago. He understood the magnitude of the pain these children go through and had a suggestion: let’s put the vision in a deep freezer for preservation until such a time that God gives us the funds.

Step Two: Built on Hope
With that question, the foundation of Tabitha 1 was laid. Not in money or luxury, but in love, compassion, and community effort. By faith, the groundbreaking was done one year later, and in less than a year, the doors were opened to a handful of children with hearts full of big dreams.
I remember the blue mattress, every meal shared, and every volunteer who walked in to teach, to listen, or just to hold a child who had never known peace or love.
Tabitha House 1 was called a rescue center by the community and all stakeholders.
They called it a Rescue Center — but in truth, the children were being rescued by the love that flowed through those humble walls.
Step Three: Growing in Purpose
Years are passing, and we are growing now, housing 24 children. The vision has grown, and 4 other Tabitha homes have come up.
Children go to school, are fed, offered shelter, counselling, and mentored. We watch children blossom. They have dreams.
Walls hear prayers. The compound echoes with laughter. And slowly, we began to see the beauty of second chances. They have dreams, some want to be teachers, others doctors, pilots, and name it. They came broken, but now they believe in themselves.
Step Four: Fighting the Stigma
But the journey hasn’t been easy.
The world outside often judged these children for the sins of their parents. Some called them criminals in waiting. But we stood as a voice saying No! — they are not their parents’ mistakes. They are dreams worth protecting.
We advocate for their dignity in schools, in hospitals, and communities. And little by little, the world has begun to listen.
Step Five: The Legacy, Our Future
Today, we are more than a center. We are a movement. We represent every child in Kenya whose parent is in prison. We stand for their education, their healing, and their right to thrive.
But we still need help. More children knock on the gate than we can take. We need more rooms, more staff, more resources. Yet, we believe — because if we could come this far on love alone, I know that with more support, the sky is not the limit.
Conclusion
So, when you think of Tabitha House 1 — the Prisoners’ Children Rescue Center — don’t just think of a building. Think of a life saved. A future restored. A nation healed.
We are the story of pain turned into purpose.
And with you by our side, we will continue writing new chapters — one rescued child at a time.
Words are not enough to express our gratitude to Prison Christian Ministries for the great work they are doing in Kenya. Any support to them makes a very big difference in so many children. None is left behind.
God bless you.
